Next hopening is a non conventional guide of Museums of Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera (Italy). The book was conceives as a walk that starts from the outside the museum, and ends with a panoramic view of the city. The journey is enriched by the contents about the art works, the context, the life of the authors and their artistic path. This information allows the visitor to be involved in the works and in some stories, narrated by people met on the street or found in some publications: episodes sometimes even “banal”, usually untold, which can prove to be extraordinary elements of narration and involvement. The methodology of the investigation takes place through the choice of some works from each room and critical and daring insights at the same time generated by short texts but also combinations of archive images, illustrations and other art works. To encourage the viewer to be an active part of the process of collecting and telling stories, each page of the book hides lined pages that can be opened with a letter opener to take notes.

Next Hopening è una guida non convenzionale dei Musei di Palazzo Lanfranchi di Matera. Il volume è stato concepito come una passeggiata che parte dall’esterno del museo, prosegue nelle sue sale e termina con una panoramica sulla città. Il viaggio è arricchito di contenuti relativi alle opere, al contesto, alla vita degli autori e del loro percorso artistico. Queste informazioni permettono al visitatore di essere coinvolto dalle opere e da alcune storie, narrate da gente incontrata per strada o scovate in alcune pubblicazioni: episodi a volte anche “banali”, solitamente non raccontati, che possono rivelarsi straordinari elementi di narrazione e coinvolgimento. La metodologia di indagine avviene attraverso la scelta di alcune opere per sala e approfondimenti critici e audaci allo stesso tempo generati da brevi testi ma anche accostamenti di immagini di archivio, illustrazioni e altre opere. Per spingere lo spettatore a essere parte attiva del processo di raccolta e narrazione di storie, ogni pagina del libro nasconde delle pagine a righe che possono essere aperte con un tagliacarte per prendere appunti.
